GETTING A LIBRARY CARD
Your library card
• Is good at all public libraries in the suburban Chicago area, as well as at designated academic libraries
• Is available free of charge to Flossmoor residents
• Is available to Flossmoor residents of any age; however, a parent or legal guardian must sign the application for any child under 14 years of age

To obtain a card you must provide proof of current residence. Acceptable forms of identification are:
• Driver's license
• Voter's registration card
• Recent utility bills
• Correspondence from federal, state, or local government agencies with a current postmark
The following cannot be used: Social Security Cards or birth certificates (they do not include an address)

Residents who live in unincorporated areas are eligible to purchase library cards. Ask at the Patron Services Desk for more information.
 

LOAN PERIODS
Three weeks for most materials, with the following exceptions:
• Two weeks for new books
• One week for current Lyric operas
Special four week vacation loans may be arranged for older materials not on reserve

RENEWING MATERIALS
• Materials may be renewed over the telephone  or online (by providing the title of the item and your library card number)
• Flossmoor library materials that are not on reserve may be renewed for one week.
• There is no renewal on magazines

PAYING FINES AND FEES
A fine is charged for each day an item is late, up to the replacement cost of the item
• If the item is owned by the Flossmoor Library, the fine is 5 cents per day
• If the item is owned by another library, the fine will be assessed at the owning library's rate
If an item is lost, the borrower is responsible for paying a replacement cost and a reprocessing fee

RESERVING MATERIALS FOR ANY FLOSSMOOR BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP
Do you belong to a book club that meets in Flossmoor? The library will assist your group in obtaining multiple copies of books scheduled for discussion throughout the year. Ask at the Patron Services Desk for more information on this service.
